Strategy

In order to help each local congregation adopt the core values of Think Transitions, we feel that the following steps will help you get the full impact of this program:

Watch the Introduction Presentation

Identify your Transition Coordinator

  • Download the Program Overview sheet so you can discuss the various components of the program.
  • Download the Transition Coordinator Job Description by clicking here.
  • The church leadership team should talk about who they feel will best help lead this charge in your local church.
  • Contact those people and see if they would be willing to help keep the awareness high for your congregation to launch its graduates into the next phase of life.
  • Once they agree have them, the youth leader and other key players log onto to a webinar with other leaders around the country. Click here to be sent information about upcoming training times.

Sign Your Church Up for a One Year Membership

  • Click on the JOIN tab above and fill out the contact information form requesting to be added to our list
  • The full membership will include access to the sessions, videos, a national database, training sessions and much more.

Decide Your Implementation Schedule

  • This program can be delivered in a variety of ways. Some churches make this a weekend event while others incorporate it into their small group or Sunday School program.
  • Develop an Implementation Calendar

Recruit Your Trainers

  • Most churches have the youth leader teach the student sessions and have a parent who has already transitioned one of their children lead the parent session. However, many churches have utilized the various gifts found within their congregation to lead different sessions.
  • When talking with the trainers make sure that the student sessions stay student focused. The goal of helping a student transition effectively is creating a sense of inner authority within them. This means that it is important that every student realizes that their story is valuable and that their voice helps others understand their journey better.

Invite the Families of your Seniors (possibly juniors)

  • Use the various materials included with the session to communicate the churches desire to be more effective in launching students after high school. These materials include e-mails, newsletter articles, podcasts, etc.
  • Invite your seniors and their families to the initial YOUR NEXT STEPS session. Many churches have included their juniors in this process as well. In fact we have seen many families go through the session two years in a row because they valued what they received.
  • Enter the information of the students attending into your local churches portal for the national database.

Recruit Your Transition Mentors

  • Look for caring adults that already have a relationship with the students. Many times these are small group leaders who have been with the students for years.

Help Students get connected with Receiving Ministries

  • The database will help make introductions for the student with ministries where they are thinking about journeying to.
  • These introductions will help the family feel that they are not alone and they will begin to help a student feel like they are going to meet new friends.
